　６６回目の終戦の日を迎えました。
　この６６年は、私たちの父母、祖母祖父たちの弛みない努力の結果が高度成長を成し遂げ、成熟の中で価値観が多様化、現在は凄まじい国際化の中で、将来の方向性に苦闘する時代になりました。
　今日は、歴史に学び、悲惨な戦争への道の一歩を絶対に歩まないことを誓う日です。
　そして、平和と幸福こそが全ての人の目標であることを確認し、民衆の手で勝ち取ることを決意する日です。
　争いの先に平和があるのではありません。誰もが持つ完全に平等な平和の心を、絶対な非暴力によって築き上げることです。この歩みは、遅々として進まず、時に道に迷うこともあるかも知れません。
　しかし、私たちが第二次世界大戦で知り尽くした母の祈りの原点に帰れば、平和への道に誤ることはないと考えます。より一層の女性の力を発揮する時と場所を作りながら確実な一歩を進めて参りたいと思います。
　今日も、新盆のご挨拶をさせて頂きました。
　終戦の日から、自宅前の大木の根っこに防空壕があったと教えてくださる方がいらっしゃいました。
　当時３才。空襲による爆撃を避けて、母の手に引かれて防空壕に入った瞬間の凄まじい爆音を今も忘れない。戦争の、３才の記憶ですと語られました。
　霞ヶ浦の水柱を覚えているという方もいらっしゃいました。
　対岸には予科練の航空隊基地があり、Ｂ２９の空爆があった。爆弾が霞ヶ浦に落ちたときの水柱は想像を越えて高く、真っ白だったと語られました。
